Free Phones in Malaysia from Telcos

So, you’re not a fan of the latest and greatest smartphones in the market. For you, a simple smartphone to keep you connected with your family and friends is more than enough, and would rather not cut a huge hole in your pocket just to own one. Here is a list of all the phones you can get for “free” from local telcos – Maxis, Celcom, U Mobile and DiGi.

Of course, nothing out there is really free per-se, as you’ll need to sign up for a contract under one of the telcos and probably be subjected to some sort of advance/upfront payment in order to get the device. But hey, at the end of the day, you’ll still get the money back in the form of rebates, and the phone will technically be free, so that’s not such a bad thing…right?

While most of the smartphones given away for “free” in contract bundles are essentially lower-end devices, you can occasionally find good deals for devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 3 from Celcom and Sony Xperia Z Ultra from DiGi.

Check out the complete list of “free” phones offered by major telcos here in Malaysia listed below, along with the full details of the plans you’ll need to subscribe to. Just a friendly reminder, you’re still required to pay an upfront and/or advance payment when you sign up so we’ve also included them in as well. Do note that all of these offers will tie you up to a 24 months contract and if you terminate before that, you’ll be subjected to a penalty.

Maxis

Visit Maxis to check out the devices they offer, or head on to their online store to shop now.

DiGi

Honestly, I’m not a fan of contracts, especially one that ties you up to two whole years, but if you don’t change phones frequently and are already paying your monthly postpaid bills, it makes sense just signing up and walking away with a free phone. Moreover for some telcos, if you’ve been with them over a certain a period of time, they might even waive the advance/upfront payment so you literally might not need to pay anything extra all.
